Demo 1 release

Well that was quick! Never expected to be done with the Demo so quickly!
I surely hope yall can enjoy this first look. Feedback is greatly appreciated! I'm really proud of my work so far.

Anyways, let's see! How did this come to be?

Well, it all started... on Friday. This Friday. Four days ago.
You see, I'm pretty good in the IT class in school. Straight As and all. (Don't wanna brag, the other subjects arent that fine and dandy lol). I basically know what will happen for the entire year, and every time we have IT, I'm insanely bored. So what's a better way to spend your time in school than by making an... asteroid clone instead?
Yeah, that was my first "attempt" at this. You know the game "Data Wing"? Basically a physics based racing game loosely based on Asteroids. So my idea was to bring back the physics from that game and apply them back to Asteroids - sort of as a mix between an Asteroids re- and a Data Wing de-make.
And well, things kinda didnt go exactly as planned. I couldn't get the physics done right, the game looked bad. So, I resorted to just messing around with the physics until they felt be---
That was when it hit me. The physics WERE right. Sure, they weren't what I planned to make, but they were right for something else! They were right... for Flummy.

After that extremely cringe opening, have some fun developement facts!

  1. Originally, the art style was a placeholder. After I had settled on the gameplay, I wanted it to become a "sequel" to "Triangle Hell" (another Bullet Hell game I made).
  2. The name of the game comes from the german word "Flummy", which means "Bouncy Ball" (yes, this is true). While working on the game, my seat neighbor looked over my shoulder and said "Oh hey thats a quite flummy!". Sure, I hadn't planned the character being a bouncy ball, but to be honest, it just made sense.
  3. While developing the game, I used Linkin Parks new song "Emptiness Machine" as a way to test the dynamic music system. While respawning, the instrumental would fade out and you would only hear the vocals. I still want the final game to have something similar, but I'm totally happy with the track used in the demo.
  4. Speaking of which, the track used in the demo is already two years old! It was made by someone (whom I sadly forgot the name of! Reach out to me for credit, I would glady give it!) for a planned fighting mode for my first game "Clicker!". It was later re-used as the main theme for "Triangle Hell" and is now a temporary theme for this game!

Additionally, here you can have some test footage! You can see how not that much changed between this and the first demo!

Anyways, thanks for reading! Be sure to leave feedback either in the comments of the project, the blog post, or my discord server!
See you around!
